About GitHub Copilot

GitHub Copilot is the AI pair programmer living inside your editor — VS Code, JetBrains, Vim, Neovim, or right on GitHub.com. It autocompletes code, explains things in chat, reviews pull requests, and its agent mode can run terminal commands and open PRs for you. It is secretly perfect for creators who are not professional developers but need to automate their workflow: renaming pipelines, thumbnail scripts, glue between apps. One thing most people miss: verified students get Copilot free, and since June 2026 every plan runs on usage-based AI credits — a long agent session on a frontier model costs more of your month than quick chats. Filmmaker use-case: have agent mode build a Python script that renames and organizes a 500-clip shoot day by metadata.
